Worsted/Aran

Our Worsted yarns typically have around 218 yards/100 grams. The more European Aran, so similar in weight, has 181 yards/100 grams. The merino yarns are designed as a worsted weight, and the British yarns are weighed as traditional Arans. This group is typically used in heavy sweater and garment knitting. If knit at a tight gauge, they are warm and very toasty.

Our yarns are sold by the kilo. Skeins are packaged ten skeins of 100 grams each to equal a kilo.

This aran looks rustic but is soft and dreamy. The yarn takes the dye really well and works well as solids, semi-solids or speckles to compliment the neps.

This yarn knits up into a lovely soft fabric with a nice drape, I made two swatches using 4mm and 5 mm, getting 18 sts over 10cm on the 4mm which gave a lovely soft but firm fabric. 5mm was a lot more drapey but still worked well, therefore you can play with these needle sizes to get the kind of fabric you want, 4.5mm probably being the best of both worlds.

This would work as a warp and weft for weaving.

This yarn is gorgeous, with the toothy texture of Bluefaced Leicester but is plump and soft enough to wear against the skin. The twist makes it full and bouncy providing a good stitch definition for knitting.

I used a #8 needle for the swatch, but you could go down to a #7 for a tighter fabric, the fabric blocks out really well.

This yarn sucks up the dye and looks super nice in the skeins, it’s a pleasure to dye and knit with.
