Non-Superwash
Yarns in this list do not contain any superwash fibers. They differ from the 'Felting' category only in that all non-SW yarn is not necessarily a candidate for felting. Many experienced garment knitters prefer a non-superwash yarn in their sweaters, vests, hats. They are warmer than superwash yarns as they have not had any of the protective cells surrounding the fiber core stripped away. The fibers rub against each other and attach ever so slightly in what is known as a fulling effect.
All non-superwash yarns do not do this. Silk, for instance, does not full the same way that Merino or Alpaca does. It is all about personal preference, and as a service to our customers, we list here all yarns which are appropriate for knitting garments and do not contain any superwash fibers.
