Sheila's Basic Sock Pattern

Here's a good pattern to get everyone off to a good start in your sock knitting career!  A top-down / cuff-to-toe knit, perfect for knitters of every skill level. 

Everyone is always interested most in the heel construction of sock patterns, so here is the info on this great pattern.  The heel is a one-piece heel which uses short rows worked back and forth.  No heel flap, no picking up of stitches ... which some knitters do not like to do. 

When Sheila first knit this heel, she never went back to knitting a heel flap again.
